For the third year in a row Five Star Food Service had the pleasure of being a booth sponsor for the Shoes for School event hosted by the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga! Over the weekend, we had the opportunity to help 400+ students. We prepared them for the upcoming school year by providing them with valuable school supplies. This gave them an upbeat attitude to kick off the school year with! The event started at 9 a.m., allowing all the kids to participate in fun and games. Engaging activities ranged from face painting (done by Five Star employees Sarah McNabb and Sarah Strickland), corn-hole, inflatable playgrounds, basketball shoot offs, and pizza and slushies. Allowing kids to go inside and pick out a pair of shoes was a first step towards a great school year.
Handling the plans was our own Faith Warui who was accompanied by C. J. Recher when handing out pencil pouches, lunch boxes, and also miscellaneous school supplies. The expressions of joy and happiness on the faces of these parents and students were priceless. The reactions are always well worth Five Star’s financial and time commitments. Many local organizations and businesses also came together to make this a successful event. Businesses included Enterprise, EPB Fiber Optics, and State Farm Insurance among others.
Five Star Food Service looks forward to participating again next year!
