Stepping Up When It Matters: Serving Our Communities in Times of Need

Oct 17, 2024

At Five Star, supporting our communities goes beyond business—it's deeply ingrained in who we are. Partnership, servant leadership, and stepping into action when needs arise are part of our DNA. Recently, when multiple locations were impacted by devastating hurricanes, we had the opportunity to demonstrate this commitment in a big way.

To date, we've shipped over 15,000 nonperishable food items to affected areas. Our Mobile, AL team jumped in, forwarding essential supplies, including 40 cases each of Kind bars, Nature Valley granola bars, Jack Link’s jerky, and Planters peanuts to Savannah. We also sent two semi-trucks loaded with water—a total of 70,560 bottles!

In response to the recent devastation, our Ringgold, GA team took swift action to support families in need as temperatures drop in the Blue Ridge Mountains by organizing a winter clothing drive. The outpour of generosity was incredible, with contributions far exceeding what they initially expected. We're truly grateful to be able to show up for our communities in a big way.

Additional evidence of Mobile, AL team for embodying servant leadership when a local family of four, displaced by the storm, reached out for help. Without hesitation, our team provided food, drinks, pillows, blankets, and even board games—delivering not just supplies but comfort and care during a difficult time.

This spirit of stepping up extends to every partnership we build. Whether it’s the way we serve our customers or how we respond to urgent needs from our communities, our team consistently rises to the occasion. When you partner with Five Star, you’re not just getting a provider, you’re gaining a partner that truly cares for your community and employees.

We are honored by the trust our customers place in us during challenging times. Care, compassion, and action are core to who we are, and our team continues to embody these values. Thank you to everyone who played a part in making a difference.
